                                     Interview

Isppakistan: How did Duur born?

Strings: When we released Sar kiye yeh pahaar in 1992, we got a tremendous response in the whole of Asia, including India, considering the fact that the media was not as dominant and massive like it is today. We then took two-three years off to finish off our studies. After that was done, we thought of revisiting our music.
Durr in the title track of our album, which Bilal composed and I provided the vocals. In our eight-year sabbatical, we were doing music, but not professionally. In fact, Durr originated during our telephonic discussions. It became our reference point.

Isppakistan: How do you define your genre of Indi-rock?

Strings: There is no such attempt to create or develop a genre. This is the way we think, and that is reflected in our music. We just create what we think and feel. Our compositions are basically romantic numbers, which are soothing to people's ears.

Isppakistan:Your inspirations ?

Strings: We do listen to music, but we are not hardcore listeners. In fact, our inspiration lies within us. We put our heart and soul into it, and it is this voice from our souls that touches hearts. We are first musicians, then music marketeers.

Isppakistan: Do you think you can create the same impact like other Pakistani singers?

Strings: We are lucky that we are now in the league of great Pakistani singers like Nusrat saab, Nazia Hassan, Ali Haider and Adnan Sami. We are determined to keep the tradition of music alive. All we can say is that we have confidence in our product and the overall packaging to appeal to appeal to audiences worldwide.

Our music is melody-oriented. Unlike others, we are musicians who write and create our own music. And then we go to music companies to market it.

Isppakistan:
What are your thoughts on the pakistan music scene?

Strings: With satellite channels and the Internet, people in the world are more in touch with each others' cultures. And we think that music is universal. What is appreciated in Pakistan will be appreciated in india and vice versa. We really enjoy the music of Junoon and the Haroon

Isppakistan: Do you think technology is going to change the face of music ?

Strings: The media today is very strong. Music reaches the masses very easily. We are also at an advantage, owing to that. The face of music will be more universal. But we have retained our basic essence. We are glad that our music is universal.

Isppakistan: What keeps the two of you together?

Strings: We have been friends for 13 years, and have developed a rapport in terms of our compositions. We understand and complement each other well. It is great working together for Strings.

Isppakistan: How was ur experience on mtv?

Strings: It was awesome what to say to be on the biggest music channel in world no words for it

Isppakistan: What words of advice do you have for your fans?

Strings: Believe in yourself and stick to your guns. Inshallah, you will realise your goals.
